Katie Fehrenbacher from Earth2Tech points out some interesting “Cisco Counter Measures” in Cisco’s Smart Grid Strategy: Embrace Everything Based on IP . But, if you step back and look at Cisco’s actions over time, you find an historical pattern of using these “eco-systems” as market disruptor. Not disruption in a “good for the market place way, but in a way that knocks out others in Cisco favor – including the partners in the eco-system. Ask IBM, who used to be in the middle of Cisco’s eco-systems.
